filled
i am filled with thoughts of this past year...easy times mixed with challenging, growth-inducing time, feeling the miles between myself and family. am having renewed appreciation for the festival of light and dark at mills in the chapel...celebrating the whole, instead of just the happy times.
solstice came and went and i am very excited for the days to grow longer, the light to expand. i have high hopes for this next year, and some fear of what change and challenges will arrive, announced or unannounced, they'll arrive and demand courage.
now, off for the day-after-Christmas feast of leftovers.

i eat a lot of tofu
which, according to conservative nutball, i mean, writer Jim Rutz, explains so many things. here's an excerpt from his article published today on world net daily entitled The Big Picture - Soy is Making Kids 'Gay':
"Soy is feminizing, and commonly leads to a decrease in the size of the penis, sexual confusion and homosexuality. That's why most of the medical (not socio-spiritual) blame for today's rise in homosexuality must fall upon the rise in soy formula and other soy products."
this makes me angry in so many different directions i can hardly write a complete sentence...or a complete sentence with out capitalized profanity in the direction of this FUCKER.
i read the article in the first place because i thought it was preposterous and way off base, but also funny that anyone could actually write this, publish it, and take themselves seriously. i mean, tofu? the cause of all right wing bigots' worst nightmares? first it bites into US beef industry profit, and now it's creating homos? i honestly don't know how someone could righteously believe this and still be a rational human. oh, wait, rational...right. not so much.
but the premise isn't funny. (nor is it logical or scientifically backed up.) and the man wrote a serious article expounding the dangers of soy on otherwise "normal" americans. and he warns mothers and fathers to avoid soy-based baby formula 'cause it might make their sons gay. and he's serious. and he's assuming his audience is looking for a root cause, something to blame the existence of gayness on. and they are.
"blame for today's rise in homosexuality must fall"
"blame must fall"
"blame"
it's not in the water, not in the tofu, it's not contagious, it's not a disease or a phsychological disorder. it just is. i just am. deal with it.
