arrival

this morning i got to witness a baby being born. amazing. beyond description. and it has taken most of the day for me to move into emotional wow about it. when the call came at 2:30 this morning, the focus was on what needed to get done...supporting the mama, assisting the midwife when possible, making sure logistics were all set. but now, well, now i am completely bowled over by the triumph and miracle. baby lila is here now, all 8 lbs 14 ozs of her. yesterday at this time, her mama couldn't see her own toes for her gigantic belly. today we have lila. AMAZING! i'm very honored to have been present at her birth, to get to see her entrance into this gorgeous, messy world. i get to say i've known her all of her life without fudging it even a second. and her big sister was there, her mama, papa, and grandma were there. we all got to welcome her and adore her from the instant she arrived. everyone should be so loved.
